Electronic Health Record Modernization (EHRM) Strategic Communications

Office of Health Informatics (OHI), Veterans Health Administration

I developed the strategic communications plan* and messaging guide for VA’s Office of Health Informatics to support the modernization of its electronic health record system—a critical initiative to improve how Veterans receive, experience, and trust their health care. My work helped clarify the value of the new EHR system, outlined how it would impact care delivery, and unified messaging across leadership, users, and stakeholders. I created key messages, talking points, stakeholder engagement strategies, and guidance to ensure consistent, Veteran-centered communication during a high-stakes transition. This work supported a ā€œOne VAā€ experience and helped restore trust in the program by focusing on transparency, engagement, and clear alignment with Veteran needs.

*I created the full strategic communications plan and messaging products. The materials shown here are excerpts. The full content is proprietary and can’t be shared, but this offers a representative view of the broader approach and messaging framework.
